We, the Schweißtechnische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt Munich, are the biggest instiute for welding technology and related processes in the state of Bavaria and since over 60 years one of the eight branches of the globally active GSI group.

EDUCATION & TRAINING – THE WARRANTY/INSURANCE FOR YOUR FUTURE
We qualify and certify welders for manual welding procedures, setters for mechanical welding facilities, expert and managing personnel for tasks concerning welding technologies (international welding engineer, international welding technician, international welding specialist), in the field of material testing as well as thermal spraying. Individual courses complement our profile.
QUALITY ASSURANCE - THE BASE FOR YOUR SUCCESS
Quality and economic efficiency are important goals of every production. We help you with the planning over the manufacturing up to the approval of welded parts. We also support you with the selection of suppliers or your operational supplier management.
The auditing accoring to different welding guidelines and/or specifications marks the completion of the implementation of regulations.
MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY – THE REQUIREMENT FOR YOUR HIGH-QUALITY PRODUCTS
We examine your welding seams and materials destructive, non-destructive, metallographically, chemical, mechanical-technological, determine and evaluate the quality of products and give guidance to a better processing as well as damage prevetion and analyze causes of damage. Our testing laboratories are certified according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT – THE REQUIREMENT FOR AN IDEAL PRODUCTION
Our focus lies on the new and further development of procedures and devices on manifold welding technology areas on behalf of companies and public authorities. That includes advice on the selection of a technolgy and its introduction, feasibility studies, optimization of welding parameters, process boundary conditions, the supervision of components as well as the the selection of materials, compontent testings, sample parts, zero series, documenting of experiments or support with series production.

Constant development of our services as well as flexibility distinguishes our company. Especially in the era of globalization we always strive to follow new technology developments or regulations and to implement them as fast as possible into practice to satisfy your demands and needs. To name just a few examples:
- We are the coordination office "Thermal Spraying", "Control Center Automotive" and here at the SLV Munich we bundle the GSI activities with the collaboration of the American Welding Society (AWS). As Kompetenzzentrum für die Verarbeitung von Edelstahl Rostfrei we support medium-sized companies with the processing of non-corrosive steels - from the mechanical to the welding processing.
- The intensive research and development work in the area of material technology contributed to the metallographic invention of a new colouretching process. Unlike the standard etching procedures the colour etching procedure can determine additional information for almost every material.
- Our education and training department offers english courses according to european and american regulations.
You can be trained as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), a European Thermal Spraying Spezialist (ETSS) or as a European Thermal Sprayer (ETS) at the GSI mbH Branch SLV Munich.
