The manufacturers of welded products have to have welding supervisors to their disposal in order that the welding employee gets the necessary welding and operating instructions to work safely and that the supervision is guaranteed.
Duties and responsibilities of the welding supervisors are defined in the guideline DIN EN ISO 14731.
Welding supervision personnel is referable to one of the groups listed below, depending on the type or complexity of the manufacture whereby the International Institute of Welding (IIW) provides recommendations for the minimal standards for the training of the welding supervisor:
